Sep 28, 2009:

The CMO network receives a U.S. Army Research Office STTR phase II contract together with J.A.Woollam Co. for design and application research of a new prototype commercial Terahertz Ellipsometer system.

Sep 9, 2009:

The National Science Foundation awards a grant to Dr. Mathias Schubert and 8 UNL co-PIs for support of the project "MRI: Development of an Optical Hall Effect Instrumentation for non-contact Nanostructure Electrical Characterization". The award is effective Oct 1, 2009, and expires Sept 30, 2011.

Sep 1, 2009:

We welcome our new PhD student Alexander Boosalis from UNL Electrical Engineering. Alexander is collaborating with Res. Prof. Dr. Tino Hofmann on materials research using THz ellipsometry.

Jun 1, 2009:

We welcome our new PhD student Brian Keith Rodenhausen from UNL Chemical Engineering. Brian will be investigating in-situ protein and biomolecular materials interaction with spatially-coherent nanostructured surfaces using ellipsometry and QCM-D techniques.

May 22, 2009:

The National Science Foundation awards a grant to Dr. Mathias Schubert for support of the project "Effects of Polarization Fields and Surface Charge Layers on p-type Conductivity in In(Ga)N". The award is effective July 1, 2009, and expires June 30, 2012.

Olle Inganäs, Professor of Biomolecular and Organic Electronics and Director of the Center of Organic Electronics at the Deptartment of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM), Linköping University , Sweden visits the CMO network, and presents a lecture on Biological macromolecules and electronic polymers in nanostructured organics.

Apr 13, 2009:

The Nebraska EPSCoR Office awards a University-Industry R&D Partnership Grant to the CMO network and the J.A.Woollam Co., Inc. of Lincoln Nebraska. The award will support research on new combinatorial approaches of optical and mechanical techniques for the investigation of growth of thin organic films in aqueous environments on nano-structured surfaces.

Apr 10, 2009:

The CMO group receives an industry award from Proctor & Gamble, Cincinnati Ohio. The objective of this research is to evaluate the feasibility of using Spectroscopic Ellipsometry simultaneously with Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation as an analytical technique to measure the formation and properties of films formed on surfaces.

Feb 12, 2009:

The Nebraska Research Initiative has funded 2 years of investigations proposed by interdepartmental collabroation team Jeffrey Shield, Zhaoyan Zhang, and Mathias Schubert to develop arrays of nanorods/pillars or nanowires by selective phase dissolution. The research will investigate electrical, magnetic and photonic properties for sensors or wave guides.

Jan 22, 2009:

Prof. Dr. Eva Schubert receives a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation. CAREER “Chiral Nanostructure Hybrid Materials for Applications in Terahertz Resonator and Magnetic Storage Devices” will support research on electrical, optical, and magnetic properties of hybrid nanostructure materials prepared by Glancing Angle Deposition for the next 5 years. more ...
