BOSCH-Prize 2007

Daniel Schmidt, PhD Student at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Universiy of Nebraska-Lincoln, received the 2007 BOSCH-Prize for his outstanding Diplom-Thesis at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern carried out at Xaar plc, Cambridge, UK.

Mainly he worked on the optical investigation on spatial pressure formation in piezoelectric ink-jet printheads with laser Doppler vibrometry. Different electrical waveforms for piezoelectric wall movement and their effect on acoustic wave generation and cancellation have been examined and a new waveform was developed which allows to increase the print frequency by theoretically 50 %.
